Purple Angel Updates

Great news for Minehead, just been on a massive recruit drive. 16 out of the 25 shops/businesses I visited said yes right away so I left them with a poster and my email. 2 shops said no outright but I think one of them could be convinced. 3 said to write to head office. 4 said to come back when the manager is in. So keep an eye out for purple angel stickers in Minehead in these stores soon:

HSBC
CornerStore
Cancer Research UK
Specsavers
British Heart Foundation
Santander
Boots
Iceland
British Red Cross
Coop & Post office
Holland & Barrett
Bastins
Toucan Wholefoods
Cats Protection League
McColls
Independent Living South West

While I was out raising awareness I was made aware of a scheme being run down here by the local shop radio, which I need to do some research into but it sounds amazing. All the shops involved have one person who is CRB checked and is a designated person for anyone with a disability, anyone who is lost or confused to approach for help. The shops will have stickers and the person will have a badge. The Coop is the local safe haven for young people with learning disabilities, and have offered to be considered to be the same for any locals with dementia. So next plan is to get in touch with whoever is running this shop scheme and see if they can be convinced to incorporate the purple angel 😉
